Post Group Ride - April Fools Day

I'll keep doing these posts for a while. Hopefully, if I mention enough names someone might actually add to the posting 😉 . Anyway ....

Not sure if anyone was fooled by the sunshine - it was a bit fresh this morning!

The group I was in today comprised full members Bob (BMW F800) and Chris S (CB1000R), and new member Nigel (FMX650).

Bob led us through the city, always worth a practice even early on a Sunday morning, and then out to Buxton. Thank you to Bob for volunteering to do the least interesting part of the ride.

Chris then gave an excellent demonstration of a full member leading a group for the benefit and encouragement of a new member, by delivering a ride with controlled pace and consideration to keeping the group together.

Nigel's ride showed that he is a competent rider who is willing to listen to, and ready to consider, feedback and advice. His enthusiasm is refreshing! Does a black cat sat in the middle of the road count as lucky or unluckly? 😮 . Nigel was faced with such a situation as we rode through a village on the coast road. Luckily for the cat it decided to move as we approached! 🙂

Fortunately, my demo ride was uneventful and we arrived at Wroxham barns just in time to join the queue for coffee and cake - which was worth the wait.

Thanks to duty observer Chris D, who was in control of getting somewhere in the region of 20 riders off in time. Another good turn out!

I live in Sprowston and Wroxham Barns is about 6 miles down the road, today when we got there i had covered 85 miles, definatly the long way round.

The group I was in today comprised of long time member Mike T (always shiney vfr 800) Allen (bmw k 1300)
and Russ (bmw 1200 rt)

Mike led of through the city and out through Spixworth, Buxton and on to Felmingham in his usual, smooth, progressive and unflustered style.

Allen took us off to North Walsham where we had a fine tour of the town, by his own admission he's not good at looking for indicators, on to Stalham and the coast road to Caistor , an excellent ride at the right pace. Sitting behind him the Akrapovic can he has fitted sounds sweet.

Russ done the final leg with another fine ride well in keeping with the i.a.m.standard.

The poor girl serving coffee and cake at Wroxham Barns could really have done with some help, she was rushed of her feet but kept smiling and it was worth the wait.

Nigel's enthusiasm was certainly refreshing and for somebody who has been riding for 40 years to come along and realise that there are things that he can learn we must be doing something right.

Hi, I was hoping to join the ride at the weekend but misunderstood where the meeting point was,so after riding between the roundabout and the traffic lights for 20mins did the route on my own! doh!
Still had a good ride though, that`ll teach me for not asking someone. Hope to get out this sun!

Hi Rich.

Just to be sure - the Group meet on Harford Bridge Tesco (A140) car park, at the far end as you look into the car park from the petrol station. Unless you arrive mega early then there is normally someone there by, or soon after, 9am so keep a look-out for other motorbikes.

Be good to see you. Make sure you introduce yourself so someone can make sure you get involved.
